Today on the 5:2 diet it was actually a low calorie day in the end. So effectively that means I have had 3 low calorie days in a week rather than 2. The reason for this is that I decided that Monday would be a good low calorie day to stick to as I am bound to have over consumed over the weekend. Lets face it, what is the busiest day of the week in a gym? Monday. It’s that post weekend guilt that kicks in and motivates us to reign it in a bit. Nothing wrong with that, its a good mechanism for keeping control.
I managed to get through the day on little more than two cups of tea, a cuppa soup and a small chicken salad for dinner. Throughout the day I drank water and Diet Coke. (Please do not gasp in horror at the mention of diet Coke) If it works for you and gets you through, so be it. I wasn’t really bothered through the day and coped with the lack of calories quite well and wasn’t overly hungry. That is until it got to bed time. I ended up in bed at 9:30pm otherwise I was in danger of chewing on the worktop. With my first weigh in the following morning I had to keep strong.
This followed with a very restless night waking up numerous times and twice to go to the loo. Yesterday was my third low calorie day but the first time I noticed those all too common frequent trips to the loo when you first start a diet. I am fairly sure my hunger and need of the loo culminated in my broken nights sleep. That and possibly the can of Diet Coke at dinner time. Something to keep an eye on. For those of you who don’t know me, I LOVE MY SLEEP!
